I Miss the Bubba

Our little kitty guy, Worf, was put to sleep on Friday, September 3rd after a three year battle with diabetes, smoldering pancreatitis and, in the end, stomach cancer. He was a fun-loving gray tabby who loved sitting in windowsills, napping in sunbeams, and talking back to you. He was also a confirmed Circus Cat, as evidenced by his ability to stand on his hind legs and paw the air if he wanted some attention. It was the most awesome thing.

He lived a great life. He got used to his BID insulin injections, and he was pain-free until about four days before his death, when he began meowing more. His belly got bigger, and on Thursday we took him to the vet. His stomach was surrounded by a huge tumor on xray, and we got him a pain shot to make him comfortable for a day. I brought him home and we spent the next day loving on him, giving him tuna, yogurt and milk out of the cereal bowl. It was so hard to say goodbye to such a good little Bubba.

If any of your loved furry friends need good veterinary care, and a human who explains things thoroughly to weepy-eyed pet owners, AND you live in southeast Michigan, it is SO worth the drive. I baked the whole office cookies. They're THAT good.

After a few days of being without a kitty, we decided to spend some time with the homeless ones at the local Humane Society. As Fate would have it, we've brought one home.

Her name was MoJo, but we named her Pixel. She's a year old tortie shorthair who LOVES to play and nibble on my fingertips. I'll post pics soon. Can't get her to hold still long enough to get a clear shot. :)

I think the Bubba would approve.
